Swampdog's Baseball, Fayetteville NC

So no summer is complete without going to at least one baseball game. And we were excited to finally find a day this summer where our schedule wasn't jam packed and we could fit in a game!

The Swampdog's are our local baseball team. They have a small stadium across town, so we loaded up and we were off!!

Even as a really small league, they were so much fun to watch play, and they interacted with the crowd non-stop we were never bored!!

The kids loved watching the mascot and his silliness! We almost got hit by a couple balls even being behind the net!

Dustin was so excited to find out we had gone on Nerd Night, and was able to answer a couple of the questions right, winning himself a cute statue of the mascot!

And the kids and I shook our groove thing during the dance contest, and won a free meal at Bonefish Grill!

Over all everyone had a blast, we stuck it out until 10 pm the end of the 8th, before the kids were getting too tired and we headed home.

After an exciting 11 to 0 game up until that point!!

Also fun fact, Babe Ruth gained his nick name "Babe" and hit his first home-run RIGHT HERE IN FAYETTEVILLE!!!

The Kidney Donors Journey: 100 questions I asked before donating my kidney; A book review

This book was sent to me to read for review, and I wasn't sure if I was going to accept the offer. It isn't something I would usually read. I love novels and stories, but I thought it might be something interesting to learn about. So I picked it up and gave it a shot.

I was afraid going in that it was going to be chalked full of medical terms, and things I wouldn't understand; However, right away I was drawn in my the light-hearted appeal of the author. He told his courageous story through humor, and honest feelings.

I think this book is a essential to anyone who has ever considered donating a kidney, to a family member, or stranger. Or even to someone who wants to do some majorly self-less act of service to another person.

Everyone is born with 2 kidneys, and our bodies only need 1 to function. So it is one of the only organs we can donate while still alive and utterly self-less! This book answers all the questions you might have and the author provides all the research you will need to do on your own, in one simple, fun and easy to read book!

This book gets a 5 out of 5 for me!!! It was written incredibly, with lots of information. Yet you aren't drowning in facts, and medical terms!

Our 4th of July 2017

So I love 4th of July, the meaning and the celebration is great. I do get a little bitter when people shoot off fireworks for days before and after. Or the ones that do it until almost midnight the day of. Haha okay enough ranting.

So we always try to make the 4th of July a blast, it is after all the only big holiday in the summer time, and fun to do things you don't do on a normal day.

This year we decided a parade would be a great way to start the day. We got up and ready early and headed to Hope Mills. We had double checked the parade route and headed towards the end of the route so we could find somewhere to park easily. We lined up along the street where hundreds of other people were set up waiting.

The kids were so excited to see the parade, so when it finally came into site everyone was so excited. Until suddenly it turned and went a different way....everyone around us was shocked. One police officer had taken it under his own wing to simply change the route of the parade leaving all of us high and dry. So we grabbed our chairs and booked it as quickly as we could to where the parade had turned.

We were able to catch some of the parade, as the same police officer had some floats, and fire trucks turn towards us, and others went on the original route leaving everyone very confused. The kids were really disappointed that they missed quite a few floats.

However, they still seemed to have a good time!!

After the parade we ran home and had lunch and naps before heading to my dear friend Julie's house!! I was so excited to spend the 4th of July with her and her family, we hadn't seen them since we both moved from Germany! And it was so great to spend the whole evening catching up, and watching the kids play together!!

The girls even with a 3 year age gap got along great and followed each other around all day!! We shot off a few little fireworks at home before heading to Aberdeen to watch fireworks.
